Drum Roller
Drum Roller, the Kansas City Chinese drum and lion dance group, was established in March 2007 with great supports from Society for Friendship with China Inc,. The Society helped with the group’s equipment, practice location and even for the costume at the group’s young age.
When we looked back, we found the group’s youth pictures with all the different drums, lion and so on supported by the Society; we found that the group’s first performance for the Society and the group’s first public showcase supported by the Society.
Today, four years after the group’s first practice, the group has its honor to have Mr. William You and Mr. Eng Foo Huang as the formal instructors; the group has its uniformed equipment; the group has its long term goal set and the group has its regular performance scheduled. (Mr. William You was the National musician in Taiwan, performed in various locations and focus on the drum squad now. Mr. Eng Foo Huang is the Master of martial arts and currently coaches the lion team.) These actually brought Drum Roller even closer to the Society for the contributions the Society made for the group and for the support the group can provide for the Society to enrich the life of local communities and to help the Society outreaches to the students in Xiaan China who could not afford the education without the Society’s help.
Looking forward, Drum Roller would like to work harder and closer to support what the true value the Society brought to those students and to those whose life been changed by the Society’s financial support.
